the city night ('97)

i've suffered the city at night and dayslavers, walkers of the mad streets but come along (rain or shine) and we'll see what the city looks like in spring and maybe it'll be okay if we just laugh awhile instead of kissing or making love (though i love that too, like tenderness or agony beneath a cool blue moon), but now, just for now, i want to walk, not alone with you, and wonder how it all goes when things aren't the way they won't always be and you know what they say about cities and people buzzing about and chit chat (you're so cold sometimes) but still like blossom smells in the air and i know, hardly anything i'll need to one day, but as long as you're here do you mind staying awhile?

just smile every once in a while and i'll know it's all there needs to be.
