footnotes to a soul

sometimes the sun is an excuse to fall and linger, hopefully on the toychests of a dramatic youth with prideful eyes

and onlooker, gazes and smiles gratefully wasting time not wasting away (we all know it's raining) and pouring glaze over our hearts with reasons to stay or go and wait there for some sort of zen or surgery-

we know when it falls, like love on a waterfall (two lovers entwined, without names or answers to their prayers

or needs to be fulfilled.

i remember her, waiting on the aftermath, resting her elbows on the serenades of summer long gone by.
this is how it goes: not up but down.
