hillside harmonies

i spent some time
in ohio a while back
passing through on
a road trip following
some band i loved
terribly just then
and when i think about
it i always come back
to the long, quiet
walking of the people
i passed.

was there ever
a day better spent
or an afternoon
more finely wasted
than the ones spent
walking between trees
on hillsides?
