the credits

one of my greatest failures as a person is not giving credit where credit is due. it's certainly not because of lack of desire, but sometimes i just don't think about it. so here is a list of people who have affected me deeply, personally, for any of a million reasons:

vincent mallison (my brother is more important ways than blood), asghar hussianiyon, brittany stevens, joshua "oz" francen, jason "yogi" ferrer (proof that forgiving can enrich your life beyond calculation, barbara ankley, kim miller, tiffany willis (for shannon wright among a myriad of other reasons), kelly heffernan, chris vining (whose death got me thinking about life), linda rose ("writers write for themselves, journalists write for an audience"), lisa stahley, lark allison (the first of the many), becca brine (who stole my boyhood), kristen lamune (who i never called back), "chickie chickie" joe shirey, chris carmena (you're not here to peddle cd's, you're here to make people's lives better through the music they enjoy"), jeff lyons (music nerd extraordinaire who cried when marc sandman died), dustin "beav" chenault (a monk without trying to be), toby jones (zen without meaning to be), dylan dalzotto (who accidently taught me about wit), dion "spider" smith (one bad motherfucker), john "pogo" howieson, fawn moon (who changed the way i hear the talking heads and think about melville), brooke stateham (what with the illuminati and all), karen menthe (the coolest chick i've ever known), ryan barbe (nick hornby incarnate), dana gorham (underground newspapers kick fucking ass), mattt conway (the quiet in any storm, even his own), clayton (you still have my copy of "how to talk dirty and influence people"), emily han (who listened to my stars before anyone else), alyssa (who read my cards so frighteningly well), kristen "the crazy chick" (who died to do her duty), luke (the best judge of character since the buddha himself), josh lightam (a poet among philistines), lindsay-girl (punk as fuck and still at it, despite all the right reasons not to be, an inspiration to anyone who breathes), jolene (a muse to even the blandest of souls), brian pierce (the mad fucker), "tricky" (who is so bizarre as to incite riots), roy turner ("whenever i meet someone owns a copy of dr. octogonocologist instrumentals, i buy them candy because it's so rare to meet anyone with taste that good"), mrs. brennon (third grade for life), julie aeron, sara shins, mike patsy, cody "kramer" foster (for knocking me down when i imagined myself to be up), little annie afferson and francis maston (for reminding me of me).

if i didn't mention you, please understand that i am one and you are numbered as the stars. in so many ways, i am who i am (for better and worse) because i knew you, because i know you. thank you, all of you, for existing.
