women and poetry

you know, it's funny that women are supposed to be the emotional sex and yet, in my life, i have only come across one astonishingly good female poet. one who is so good, i can barely breathe when reading her work. that's not to say there aren't many more good ones, but just that there is only one that always sucks the breath from me. of course, you could say that is because of inequalities in the publishing world and that may be partly true, although i can honestly say that with very few exceptions, all of the most incredible photographers i have seen the work of are women. so that can't be totally it.

so what am i saying? i guess i'm saying: "hey women, get your fucking act together, you should be way better at this than any man! you've got no excuse!"
