unlike a freight train

i was never taught when i was young to touch things softly. i don't mean antiques or things in stores, but things that matter. there was never any question in my upbringing of the gentleness that is so necessary as a way of approaching things. it was handed down as if you either touched it or you didn't there was no middle ground.

now, older, i find that most of the times, the difference maker is to touch softly with all the tenderness of a feather.
